IMPORTANT NOTICE:

WE ARE APPROACHING THE BEGINNING OF THE 2007 HURRICANE SEASON IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS!  PLEASE KEEP ALL OF US ALONG THE GULF AND ATLANTIC COASTS IN YOUR PRAYERS.  WE ARE HOPING THAT THE COOLER SPRING HERE IN FLORIDA HAS KEPT THE WATERS IN THE GULF COOLER AS WELL.  HOWEVER, WITH THE END OF EL NINO AND THE BEGINNINGS OF LA NINA WHO KNOWS WHAT THE WEATHER WILL BRING!

PLEASE VISIT THIS SITE OFTEN FOR UPDATES IN THE EVENT THAT HURRICANES DO HIT OUR COASTS THIS SEASON.

** PLEASE VIEW THE RECOMMENDED HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS LIST FURTHER DOWN THIS PAGE IF YOU LIVE ALONG OUR NATION'S COAST. ANOTHER GOOD IDEA IS TO SAVE YOUR NEWSPAPER'S PRINTED HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS SECTION FOR FURTHER TIPS AND MAPS OF EVACUATION ROUTES. **

About Us:

Presently, we are a totally volunteer, non-affiliated interim housing clearinghouse, temporary and permanent relocation facilitator, and support infrastructure for the victims of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma , working in concert with several civic and religious organizations, and have estabilished our 501(c) status.  We welcome those that wish to contribute to our efforts to contact us via the links located on the bottom of this page.

We have obtained a Non-Profit status now and if you wish to make monetary contributions to assist in transportation, food, clothing, etc for these victims please contact us.  We will let you know how to send us these funds and will discuss with you how you wish them to be distributed.  Please note 100% of all such funds go directly to the victims of the 2007 Hurricanes.

Our goal is to match available housing/transportation/employment to those in need and willing to relocate during the interim, or permanently.

  • Category One:  We’re trying to acquire a list of available lodging
  • Category Two:  We’re trying to compile a list of those who are willing to temporarily/pemanently relocate

 2 Types of Lodging

  • Free accommodations: Furnished and Unfurnished
  • Very minimal cost:  Furnished and Unfurnished.

We are currently compiling a list of persons/orgaznizations willing to donate/acquire NON-PERISHABLE goods, available transporters of these goods, and law enforcement personnel willing to accompany these "Conveys of Hope."

Furthermore, if you have any furniture which you are willing to donate to these individuals once they are able to sustain themselves in newly acquired personal homesteads, please contact us immediately.

CRITERIA FOR INDIVIDUALS SEEKING OUR ASSISTANCE:

  • All victims wishing to avail themselves of the services of this organization must be registered with FEMA and the American Red Cross prior to our involvement.  Only those victims with a FEMA and/or Red Cross ID/Case Number will be dealt with so as to assure the safety of the sponsors.  FEMA and the American Red Cross are cross-referencing the victims so as to ascertain if they are criminal offenders.
  • You are guests of our housing sponsors, thus, you must be willing to follow the house rules that they have set.  All of our sponsors maintain the right to chose whom they wish to sponsor and can revoke such sponsorship based on their criteria.
  • Furthermore, this organization will not deal with anyone who is the following: a convicted felon for any crime, seeking a homestead that would normally be handled by a realtor, someone seeking assistance that is NOT a victim due to Hurricanes Katrina or Rita, or individuals that do not have immediate plans to obtain gainful employment.  Section 8 housing assistance will only be dealt with on an individual basis based on our set criteria, and only in those rare areas in which we have been provided information on such housing.
  • If you fall under the above categories we suggest that you seek assistance directly from FEMA and/or the American Red Cross directly as there are already government agencies set up and available to them that handle these types of cases, and/or to contact a realtor in the area of interest if you do not wish to accept in-home housing sponsorship.

To show our support for the victims and survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita we ask that people fly their red, white & blue flags/banners/bunting/whatever.  Our Moto is "Let 'em Fly!"

Recommended Hurricane Preparations For Coastal Residents:

*Stock Up on Your Non-Perishable Goods, Water & Gatorade/Powerade* We saw how important this became after multiple hurricanes hit the Gulf Coast last season.  Don't become a victime, get prepared.  Make a designated spot to store all items in case of a storm and place all items in boxes marked Hurricane Items.

*Stock Up on Other Important Items Such as Batteries, Flashlights, Generators & So Forth* Place these items in the same general area as your Non-perishable goods and mark their contents as well.  Keep Cell Phones fully charged.  A good item to invest in is the new Wind-up radio/flashlight/cell phone charger units now on the market.  Take advantage of your state's tax-free period to purchase these items!

*Have an Evacuation Plan* This should include an Evacuation Map, with alternate routes!  All members of the family should be made familiar with all of the above.  You should also have a designated meeting place or emergency contact person should you become separated for any reason.  Do not rely entirely on FEMA and the Red Cross to reunite your family.

*Message to Delilah Listeners*   Thank you for all of your assistance during the 2005 Hurricane Season that saw our country survive a devastating record of high Category destructive storms, especially from Wilma, Ivan, and Rita.  The American people’s response to our call for assistance was phenomenal and we thank all of you!
